Opportunity
Sight Unseen is a digital magazine dedicated to showcasing what’s new and next in design and the visual arts, with a particular focus on independent creators who operate outside conventional boundaries, created in 2009 by Monica Khemsurov & Jill Singer (ex-I.D. Magazine). Having met them in Milan during a personal exhibition straight out of school, they came back to use several years later with a proposal to design furniture for their very own brand. For this occasion, they have partnered with Bestcase, an American design and manufacturing studio that marries local production, custom metal furniture design, and environmental mindfulness.
Concept
Being able to get rid of traditional design processes and having the liberty to draw by instinct is an approach that embraces spontaneity rather than technicality. Through a reduction process that maximiyes one’s creative viewpoint, the final result eventually speaks as intended. With Bestcase specialising in steel construction, the Frame tables are built using cold rolled steel frames following hand drawings that accentuate the structure’s silhouette.
